Best laid plans...

Wow!  Morocco is soooo cool!!
Actually, it's really hot, but I'm not experiencing that yet because I haven't left the US as my best laid plans went kaflooey.  I had quite an emotional morning spent at the airport while my travel-agent-extraordinaire/husband Greg, who, just after dropping me off, had to pull over at a Starbucks somewhere in San Diego to talk at length w/ AA international while Rebecca was on her phone acting as go-between for myself and Greg as I pled w/ an AA supervisor and a ticketing agent at the ticket counter to find a way to successfully get my tusch to Morocco as we so meticulously planned. Now normally as a Leo I enjoy lots of attention - but in this case, I have to say, I would have preferred just the usual TSA Precheck. After minutes ticked away while we did our useless waltz and it was certain I wasn't going to make my flights I collapsed onto the floor in front of the ticketing desk and, surrounded by bags, I stared into space wondering if this inauspicious beginning was also the end of my Moroccan trip.  Was the SD airport as close as I was going to get after soooo much planning with family and friends and JBT tour contacts and deposits made and so many, many coordinating emails and research hours spent in anticipation of a mother-daughter adventure in Northern Africa?

Well, not to jinx it, but the plan is to (knock-on-wood) get out of Dodge tomorrow morn (crossing fingers and toes), bright and early, so bright and early that I'll be able to join my husband who is also leaving Dodge on the first flight out to OKC for business same-day (more wood-knocking).

The long and the short of it is that one leg was paid for - say the duck-confit leg - while the bbq-chicken leg was free, and they were on separate Record Locators (obviously) which meant that although my person could fly through to Tajineland my bag could not, and there was not enough time to collect my bag, recheck it and make my flight out of Trumpland (oh, God, don't get me started). So when the Uber driver in San Diego asked how my flight was and where I was coming from it was really hard for me to answer even though the answer was quite simple.

Anyway, good news is - as I already mentioned - I fly out tomorrow and will end up (again knocking on lots of wood - it's okay for you to join me) on the same flight as Nadia and Rach from Madrid to Marrakech (keep knocking)!  And the best news is that if all goes as planned (crossing digits again) I will fly business class across the Atlantic.

So, there you have it.  Off to Morocco tomorrow!

In the meantime, here are a few more photos from Rach during her last few nights at the Bedouin camp in Israel.
